What does a Surgical Technologist do?

A Surgical Technologist, also called an Operating Room Technician, prepares operating rooms and arranges the proper equipment for surgery. They work alongside doctors during surgery and prepare the patient for their surgery. They have the opportunity to interact with patients pre-surgery, during surgery, and post-surgery.

Certification Information

Upon completion of your training, you’ll be qualified to earn your certification as a Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). After passing the exam and earning your certification, the certification must be renewed each year through continuing education. Clinical requirements include Case Documentation within 2 years of exam pass date, including minimum 125 surgical cases.

This program does not meet state licensing or regulatory requirements for Surgical Technicians in the following states: ID, IL, MA, NV, NY, SC, TN, TX, and VA.
